Drum roll, please...
The Kansas City Stars were shining brightly last night (April 5th 2008),
at least over Green Acres III....
when, at the end of the day, all 10 of the Joey/Justin content, fat, beautiful
and healthy babies, marched right into our hearts.
If ever there was a song with lyrics that addressed cool,
calm, collected and confident....it would be Miss Joey's theme song.
She brought her pups into this world without drama, at her own pace....and
without hesitation set about her instinctive role as a loving, organized and
diligent Aussie girl.
It is a tremendous honor, to announce their arrival...an exceptional group of 10
precious darlings:
3 Blue Merle Females
2 Black Tri Females
1 Blue Merle Male
4 Black Tri Males
Josey's new family notes that she's smart, mischevious....and very
affectionate....and they just love her

I finally have the opportunity to email with a
“brag sheet” on Miss Chula. June 12th and 11th, she competed at the
Colorado Springs AKC Show in Rally Novice; she got her first two
qualifying legs with a score of 86 (of 100) on Saturday and 94 on
Sunday. She had a blast being at this big show and was well-mannered
and as cool as ice – displaying her confidence and composure
throughout both days.
Last weekend, we competed in our first outdoor
NADAC agility trial. Neither one of us were cool as ice as the
temperature was 90+ both days. In spite of that, she focused on me
with her usual intensity and received a 2nd place in both rounds of
Regular Novice Agility. Thank goodness, I got to run as a veteran
handler (60+) so we got extra time on the course. I needed it – she
didn’t – LOL. We met our objectives for the weekend: focus on
handling skills (for me) and focus on completing the course and
accuracy (for Chula). It was a splendid start to what is going to be
a stellar agility run toward titles. |

Beautiful Chula, 2 years of age
We have 15” of snow today and Chula (left) has had
a blast! I expect her to sleep very well tonight – giggle.

Linda, Chula & Chama
Chula's "Mom" has written a book...Chapter
Four from Book Five of The Panic and Patience Series (Have Two –
They’re Small) features a charming (I think) commentary from Chula
on her first show.
to read Chapter Four, written by Linda
Jensen, with a little help from Chula!
12 week old Chula, sporting her new Canine
Therapy vest....too cute!
My kids came to visit & commented often that she is really a mellow
puppy and loved on her a lot.
She is definitely very confidant and a real love – she loves to ask
to get on my lap and snuggle.
I couldn’t be more pleased – she is a real blessing to our home!
“After five days of near 100 degree heat,
it finally rained and cooled into the 60’s today. The dogs
were good sports as we hunkered down in front of the fans
and in the shade. Chula had her third shots today and
weighed 20.7 pounds – what a big girl she is becoming! She
is absolutely the sweetest girl alive: she comes when
called, brings the ball (for cookies) and curls up on the
ottoman of my arm chair after our evening walk. She and
Chama are really buddies now and are walking easily together
but separately on extension leashes. I will use a double
lead soon. She knows “leave it”, “let’s go” and “easy” as
she learns from Chama’s response to my requests as we walk.
The evening “puppy nascar” laps around the backyard make me
laugh out loud. She brings everlasting joy to my heart!
We will finish Puppy Kindergarten in the
next three weeks and then begin conformation handling
classes with Doug Johnson. The next show is in October in
Castle Rock so we should be well prepared. By then it will
be fall, my favorite season of the year, and we will take
long walks in the nearby regional park to enjoy the changing
colors. I can’t believe that time is passing so quickly.
Chula has added so much fun to our family – I can’t thank
you enough for your steadfastness. You carry on Joseph’s
tradition with honor.
Almost “nightie night” time so always know
that you are in my thoughts and prayers,
Biggest hugs,
Linda, Chama & Chula”

beautiful Colorado!

...won first place at the costume contest at
Woofstock in Zona Rosa. I know it may not seem like much of an
accomplishment but how many dogs would
wear a headband and bellbottom blue jeans for 45 min without
complaining. That's my Bailey.
They will be next years mascots and appear on all the
advertisements.

Keena & "sister" Bailey
Christmas 2008
A note from Keena's new owners..."Took the A frame
out. Sat it up, about mid height to move it around. Had to pick the
chute up to put the
A frame where it was level. Chute was wet. Threw it over the A frame
to dry. Don was in the neighbors yard getting something.
Turned to tell him what to get, what to leave. There goes Keena up
the A frame and through the chute. Came out on the other side just
fine.
She's never been on an A frame legally, you know.
Think we could turn this into a new obstacle? A frame ramp
beginning, chute at the top and covered slide? LOL

Keena is having a ball with agility!

Joey/Justin litter.
She is following in her big sister's footsteps, participating in
specialty dog events, therapy...and whatever she wants to do!
July 2008 note from her new owners "Keena loved climbing in and out
of the bucket. These were taken at Dog Scout camp.
She became a Pup Scout and earned her "Puppy Paddlers" badge...his
is the only one you can earn as a Pup Scout.
The way she took to the water she could have been a dock diver! LOL

18 Sept
08 - note from Molly's new owners...Hi
Judy, just a quick note Molly is doing wonderful and getting so big.
We took
her to a trainer and looked into puppy kindergarten but she had
already learned everything that was taught there. The trainer is the
one who teaches the classes.
She
says she is doing wonderful. We laughed last night, we have an
orchard and she has gotten a taste for apples.. she picks her own!
Now
that we are back to work full time and she has her schedule down,
she tries to hide our shoes in the morning so we can't leave.. it is
so cute!

Zeke and I just enjoyed a long weekend in Texas.
Austin is a wonderful dog friendly city. I was so proud of my boy.
All that training and socialization really paid off. I love the pic
of him waiting patiently while my friend and I were shopping.

Later, the "kids" had a lovely dip in a nearby
river!

Zeke Christmas 2009

Catherine says, "I can't believe that Zeke is 6 months old
already. As evidenced by the above picture, he continues to grow
like a weed and is one handsome boy.
Hi
Judy, Guess what? Zeke tried herding for the first time
yesterday. Of course he did wonderful considering he has never
even seen sheep before-no anxiety or stress, just my usual
confident Zeke. Instinct is an amazing thing. I have found a
wonderful instructor that I am looking forward to working with.
I am going to add a weekly herding lesson to his already busy
schedule. Hopefully we will advance to competition obedience and
agility, but the herding is just for fun. It is beautiful to see
him doing what he is designed to do.
 |
This picture is from Bark at the Park, Zeke's
first baseball game. I love that I can take him
absolutely anywhere. What a great weekend-herding
sheep, baseball game, two hours at the dog park, and
agility practice. On this Mothers Day weekend I
think I have earned a gold star for best dog mom! |
|
 |
Zeke had his first camping trip this week. Of course, he handled
it wonderfully. He hiked his little paws off. What an awesome hiking
partner.
Zeke has completed Basic Obedience and did very well. We are
going to continue with the obedience training before starting
agility.
As always, we are having loads of fun together. He is the most
wonderful companion."
|
 |
I only had to show him once...could be the early signs of a an
agility dog?
It is hard to believe that I have had Zeke only one week. It feels
much longer. I can't believe how beautifully he has settled in. In
just one week he has learned his name and has made me fall
completely in love with him. He is potty trained. No accidents for
the past 5 days and has just started whining at the door. He has
become comfortable in his crate. Last night was the first night of
Zeke going into his crate for bedtime and quietly settling down and
going to sleep. This morning during play time he took his bone into
his crate all by himself and laid there for a few minutes playing.
He has had several outings visiting neighbors and last night we went
to Petco for a change of environment, and of course we came home
with a few new toys :-) .

In one week he has become comfortable
walking on a leash. Walks have increased from 10 minutes to 30
minutes. I can't wait for the hour long marathon walks. Tonight was
the first night that I started teaching him to walk on my left side.
He has done well with introductions to both children and other dogs.
Can you believe all of that in just one week. I can't wait to see
what is next. I feel honored to have such a handsome, intelligent
and loveable dog. Sometimes I just look at him and I can't believe
that he is mine (or I am his). The way he is progressing he is going
to be the rockstar of puppy class.
Thank you for loving your Aussies and giving Zeke such a great
start.
Catherine
Another note: "Zeke is the most
amazing, beautiful dog in the entire world. He knows
sit, down, shake, and come (when it's convenient for
him!)

good they will accomplish, in future.

November 2008 update ~ Nacho has
learned sit, lay down, come, and fetch. We are working
on stay. He is making progress. He also knows to go and
lay on his bed when he is inside. Jack and Nacho wrestle
a lot and it cracks us up. Jack will tackle Nacho
outside in the yard and Nacho loves every minute of it.
It is very fun to watch them both grow up together. We
took Nacho with us several times to cut firewood and the
farmer has an Aussie and another smaller dog and Nacho
does great with them. In fact, when we took Jack this
last time the little dog started to jump on Jack and
Nacho stopped him and protected Jack. It is quite
amazing--he is quite protective of his family. He only
barks when strange people come around. He is a very
smart "barker". I also entered Nacho in a Humane Society
contest for a "pet pin-up" calendar and he was one of
the top dogs, so he gets his own month! Nacho has
definitely become part of our family!
|

Nacho and the rest of us are doing great...Jack had a birthday party on June 14th and received an electric 4
wheeler!
